Jas Prince Sues Cash Money Again Over Drake Contract

Son of Rap-A-Lot founder J. Prince, Jas Prince, has reportedly sued Cash Money Records founders Bryan “Birdman” Williams and brother Ronald “Slim” Williams for a second time, according to new legal documents obtained by TMZ. The younger Prince, who initially hooked Drake up with the management company Aspire Music Group and Cash Money, has been embroiled in a financial fight with the Cash Money CEO since 2015, when he originally attempted collect on the money he says is owed to him.

According to the suit, Birdman isn’t honoring his contractual duty to pay Aspire “one-third of his Drake profits.” Additionally, an exclusive deal Drake signed under Birdman in 2013 also allegedly breached Drake’s initial agreement and forced Aspire to lose $4 million. The suit was filed by Aspire, but TMZ‘s case sources said that Prince is “calling the shots” and now owns a portion of the company. Last year, Prince took legal action against Aspire co-owner Derrick Lawrence.

Prince, who owns part of Aspire, previously reached a $11 million settlement with Cash Money over a similar dispute. Prince claimed he had not been paid 22 percent of all Drake’s advances and net profits as part of the deal he made to bring the Toronto rapper to Cash Money. Cash Money tried to blame Aspire for Prince’s lack of payment before settling out of court.
