Drake Lashes Out At Coachella Country Club
Drake and Coachella have an iffy history together, as his first major festival performance during its 2015 edition has passed into the annals of history with its uneven quality and infamous Madonna cameo. Another related conflict has now flared up, as Drake (who was staying in the area over the weekend) accused the nearby Madison Club of race-based prejudice in a now-deleted Instagram post he put up yesterday.
“The most offensive place I have ever stayed at in my life with staff who pick and choose who they are going to accommodate based on racial profiling #Coachella,” the rapper, 30, wrote in a since-deleted post on Instagram early Monday with a snapshot of the facility’s logo.
Drake’s fans are also voicing their concerns in the comments of the post — many tagging the club, whose account is private. “It should never take this level of a spotlight to assess your mandate and employee compliance,” one commenter said.
The Madison Club are yet to put out an official statement on the case, but they did comment on the rapper’s photo before it was deleted.
“We are trying to get this issue fixed as soon as possible. Customer satisfaction is our number one priority and for you to experience such a thing is embarrassing for us,” the club wrote. “We are very sorry for the inconvenience and we will be issuing out a formal apology to you and the public. We will also be investigating this as we do not tolerate racial discrimination.”
Stay tuned for an update.
